Shaping Music

Shaping Music | Introduction to Interactivity
This project challenges you to consider how a circle, square and a triangle can be used as symbolic representations of sound, and investigates how these simple shapes can be used as a vehicle for interpreting pitch, rhythm, tempo, volume, and other musical concepts.

In the first part of this project you will choose a segment of instrumental music, analyze it, then design a printed piece which uses three simple shapes (circle, square and triangle) to visually represent three key sounds or beats in the music’s structure, tone and dynamics. In the second part, you will use your previous work as a springboard from which to design an animated sequence synched to your musical segment, with the graphical shapes as your visuals.
